Cancelled - Concentration and Insight: The Three Marks of Conditioned Existence
July 1 - 5, 2020
All of the Buddha’s teachings point to liberation–to freedom from suffering; to the realization that all conditioned phenomena are liable to suffering (all-pervasive unsatisfactoriness), to impermanence (the only constant is change) and to anatta the lived understanding that there is independently arisen self. Liberation means dwelling in the unconditioned while living fully, and functioning effectively with love, wisdom, and compassion, within samsara, cyclical existence.
In this retreat, methods for concentration coupled with insight practices are the focus of instruction and Dharma talks. Directly experiencing, with penetrating insight, any one of the three characteristics allows the possibility of touching the unconditioned, that experience beyond the limits of the space-time continuum.
The essence of samsara is screaming at us during these troubled times. The three unwholesome roots of samsara; greed, hatred, and delusion, are ruling the day and the night. Liberation means uprooting these three. Rooting wise actions of body speech and mind in the unconditioned provides endless opportunities for diminishing suffering through skillful means whereby wisdom, love, and compassion rule the day and night.
This retreat is for dedicated Dharma practitioners only and is held in Noble Silence. It includes instruction, sitting, walking, Dharma talks, community service work periods, and interviews with the teacher.
