The 10 paramis are the heart qualities of a bodhisattva, a Buddha. They are noble and ethical imperatives associated with the highest aspiration to be free from suffering. Practical in their nature, they can be cultivated and applied directly in our daily lives. As well, they are profound supports for awakening in our formal practice. As each parami is cultivated, we discover the possibility of living a more intentional life – with an increasing capacity to respond with the wisdom, kindness and compassion that serves the greater good that exists in each moment.

This two week retreat will focus on the contemplations and mediation practices associated with the ten paramis, We may already be familiar with the paramis – generosity, patience, metta and equanimity. We will also include the other six – virtue, renunciation, truthfulness, energy and wisdom.

The retreat will be held in Noble Silence. The daily schedule will include morning teachings and reflections, sitting and walking meditation, an optional afternoon discussion period, individual inquiries and an evening dharma talk. As well there will be time to rest and spend time in nature.

Pre-requisite: This retreat is for experienced meditators who have attended, and completed, prior Insight Meditation (vipassana) retreats held in Noble Silence – and who are interested in committing to full participation in the daily schedule.

In support of the spirit of community, it is important that all retreatants arrive on time and stay through the formal closing of the retreat at noon on the last day. Arrival begins at 1:00 P.M. with orientation beginning at 4:00.
