This day-long program will be centered on mindfulness of breath as a practice for settling the body and mind into an increasingly natural state of ease and comfort. Dr. Lye’s approach is grounded in the Anapanasati Sutta read through the lenses of Tibetan Mahamudra.  In this discourse, the historical Buddha gives instructions on using awareness of breath as the main meditation object for cultivating both calmness/ease and insight.

This retreat will capitalize on the natural outdoor setting at Southern Dharma. There will be periods of seated, standing and movement meditation. A prepared plant-based lunch is included and will be served outside.

This program is suitable for participants at all levels of familiarity with Buddhist meditation.

The retreat will capitalize on the natural outdoor setting at Southern Dharma. In the event of heavy rain or other foul weather, the program will take place on Saturday May 1st.

All participants will be required to sign Southern Dharma’s Safety Information & Release Form and abide by our Community Covid-19 Agreement, which is designed to minimize transmission risk during on-site programs.

For this retreat, three fee tiers are offered. Please choose the option that best fits your ability to give in this time. Any amount paid above the Base rate is a tax deductible contribution to Southern Dharma Retreat Center. Your confirmation email is your receipt for tax purposes.

We are deeply grateful for your support.

Registration fees do not include dana for the teacher. In the Buddhist tradition the teachings are offered freely and teachers are not paid for their offerings. They rely on dana contributions from students. Similarly, Southern Dharma keeps registration fees low to ensure the Dharma is accessible to all. Fees cover only a fraction of Southern Dharma’s operating expenses. We appreciate your practice of generosity to continue the dissemination of the Dharma!

A limited number of need-based scholarships are available. Please indicate your interest in a scholarship during the online registration process.
