Spring forward! Help the Southern Dharma staff open our facilities for the 2019 retreat season. Working meditation sessions will include gardening and yard work, painting, seasonal cleaning, trail and road maintenance, and other annual housekeeping and maintenance activities.

The Spring Work Weekend is structured as a silent two-night retreat with scheduled sitting meditation sessions each morning and evening. Participants will be given basic instruction in sitting meditation and mindful movement. Working meditation sessions will provide participants an opportunity to practice mindfulness while engaging in everyday work activities. These practices translate to your work, home and school life. There is time to enjoy the natural beauty and seclusion of Southern Dharma.

This retreat is specifically intended for emerging adults age 18-25. The retreat is geared towards introducing emerging adults to retreat practice, taking meditation into daily life, and meeting others interested in deeper, contemplative living. We encourage students to come as an alternative Spring Break.

The nonrefundable registration fee covers room, board (vegan cuisine), an introduction to mindfulness meditation, and the opportunity to serve the Southern Dharma retreat community. Registration is open to both beginners and experienced practitioners.

Participants should plan to bring indoor and outdoor work clothes, water-repellent work shoes or boots, indoor shoes or slippers, an outdoor hat, rain gear, and plenty of clothing layers to keep warm and comfortable through weather changes and fluctuating early spring temperatures.
