Since the time of the Buddha, countless teachers have pointed out the innate simplicity and spontaneous wisdom of our true mind. Unfettered by conditioning and emotional reactivity, this mind has the capacity to guide and support us spontaneously in living an awakened life.

Using meditative texts, poems, and songs from the Zen, Chan, and Great Perfections traditions, Fred will guide participants into the world of the Buddha Mind and show how to integrate this understanding in all circumstances of daily life. Unencumbered by any philosophical or religious overlay, the natural wisdom and compassion of these lineages of enlightened living will be presented to demonstrate their relevance to our modern life.

This silent retreat will include formal periods of sitting and walking meditation, guided meditations, daily Dharma talks, private interviews with Fred, deep listening periods, opportunities for solitary practice, and time to enjoy the natural beauty and peacefulness of Southern Dharma.

Please note that this retreat is only for experienced meditators who have been practicing consistently for at least three years, have attended prior silent retreats, and are intent on spending most of each retreat day in meditation.

Registration for this retreat will be conducted by lottery. The registration period will be 24 hours, 2 pm January 1 through 2 pm January 2nd. All registrations after 2 pm on 1/2/19 will be wait listed along with those not selected in the lottery process.

This retreat is open to serious and committed Dharma students who demonstrate emotional stability and maturity in their lives, have a daily meditation practice and have been a Dharma student for at least three years.

Prerequisite: Students must have attended two or more retreats of four days or longer to apply.

Please be prepared to offer dates, teachers and locations of qualifying retreats at the question “Please summarize your prior retreat and/or meditation experience”. If you have more than two qualifying retreats, please offer the most recent and/or longest. Only those applications with complete, verifiable information will advance to the lottery.
